75-yr old farmer in police net for raping 11-yr old girl with autism

A 75-year-old farmer Nurudeen Koleosho has been apprehended by the Ogun State Police for allegedly raping an 11-year-old girl said to be suffering from Autism.

Reports say the 11-year-old girl (names withheld) had gone to play in a nearby farm with her friends but she was left behind around Koleosho’s farm in Shomeke community, in the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area, Ogun State when he approached her.

The farmer lured the 11-year-old girl with money to allow him sleep with her but after collecting the cash, the girl refused to play ball and Koleosho resorted to forcing the girl into satisfying his carnal desires.

The victim ran home to her grandmother Mrs. Bose Adebayo who she has been living with since 2015 after the death of her father, and reported the incident to her guardian who confronted Koleosho.

The farmer denied the allegations when he was confronted by Mrs. Bose who was led to his house by the 11-year-old girl. Mrs. Bose who was not satisfied with the defense of Koleosho reported him to the police.

“She came home from the farm with N1,050 and was crying. I asked her what happened. She said an old man forced her to lie on the floor and put his manhood in her private parts. She could not talk properly because of her health condition. I told her to take me to the man’s house and she brought me to Mr. Koleosho.” Mrs. Bose said.

Peter Adebayo, uncle to the 11-year-old said Koleosho initially denied having carnal knowledge with the girl but later confessed to his crime while in custody at the Owode divsion of the Nigerian Police.

“I was informed of the incident on the telephone. The girl is 11 and is suffering from autism. That is why her education is slow; she is in primary 2. She had gone to the farm with her playmates on that day, but they left her there. She said she shouted but there was no one to come to her rescue. It was my mother (Bose) and brother who took her to the hospital for treatment and tests because she was complaining of pains. The doctor’s report is with the police and we were told that sperm was found in her private parts.

“I went to the station and he (the suspect) confessed before the Divisional Police Officer that he raped her. He, his family members and elders of the community have been begging me to let go of the case, saying that he is an old man. The money he gave her is with the police as an exhibit.”

DSP Muyiwa Adejobi, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, said Koleosho will soon be charged to court for indecent assault.

“It is a case of indecent assault. The man actually wanted to have carnal knowledge of the girl, who is deaf and dumb. It is a serious matter and we are going to charge the man to court.” Adejobi said.
