9ice escapes robbery attack

It turned out to be a narrow escape for ‘Gongo Aso’ crooner Abolore Akande aka 9ice after he escaped a near robbery attack at Town Planning Way in Ilupeju, Lagos while on his way to honour an invitation to perform at a show on the Island.

According to reports, the singer was cornered while driving his Mercedes Benz car and was about to negotiate a bend towards the Anthony Village Bridge to connect the Gbagada Expressway when he was stopped by four armed men in an ash-coloured SUV.

Not taking any chances as he watched the armed men approach his car, 9ice braved the odds when he put his car on reverse speeding backwards towards Coker Road in the same Ilupeju neighbourhood.

According to a source who witnessed the incident, “He was brave and lucky to escape as the guys could not catch up with him after noticing their evil plans”.

Speaking after the near robbery attempt, 9ice said; “I thank God for that narrow escape. I couldn’t ever imagine what I experienced on that Sunday night. Of course, their intention is to rob me of the car but only God could tell what they could do next. But I thank God for the escape.”
