Abba Moro should be in jail, Nigerians hit ex-minister over APC “promised change but brought pains” comment

Comments by a former Minister of Interior and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial candidate for Benue South, Abba Moro, has generated different reactions from Nigerians.

Moro was blamed for the immigration recruitment exercise that led to the death of several Nigerian youths during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

He had on Tuesday criticised President Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progressives Congress (APC) government for promising Nigeria change but ended up bringing “pains and hardship” to the people.

He said during the inauguration of his ward-to-ward campaign in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue, that “The All Progressives Congress promised Nigerians change but ended up in bringing pain and hardship to Nigerians.”

The comment apparent stung some Nigerians, who remembering the immigration saga under Moro’s leadership, took to Twitter to bemoan that the man who caused many families so much pains could say such a thing.

Some of the Tweets read:

Godwin Etakibuebu:“Abba Moro says APC promised change but brought pains” – news. You remember Moro; President Jonathan’s minister of Internal Affaires who organized that fraudulent employment scam that led to death of hundreds of youths? Someone should tell him to shut-up his mouth permanently.

@OgbeniDipo: If Nigeria was very alright, Abba Moro should be serving jail term as we speak. He needs to go and sit down. Dr. Dípò | The Career ? added,

‏@AishaYesufu: President Muhammadu Buhari @MBuhari Allah ya isa!

You brought down the level of governance to such a place where an Abba Moro can still speak in Nigeria. You disillusioned people and brought in despondency. All that was expected of you was Exemplary Leadership. You failed!‏

@iamremraj: #AbbaMoro Heard Abba Moro is contesting as a Senatorial Candidate for Benue South! The same Abba Moro?! In saner climes, the man is supposed to be serving a jail term for overseeing the scamming of over 670,000 youths, killing some in the process. Ha!

‏@iheme_emmanuel: What Abba Moro said about the APC not being able to deliver even one of their promises to the people of Nigeria was right but, what Abba Moro did by organizing what was termed frodulent job scheme was wrong, he did out of his own volition and if this Government was responsible.‏

@JohnGra60799908: Abba Moro says APC promised change but brought pains. APC supporters… The truth must be told… Buhari brought pains not change. Abba Moro didn’t do well too…

‏@dmightyangel: Show this to Abba Moro……That was when he collected N1000 from Nigerians, then lead them to their early grave. IN CHINA, according to Yutu Lie, Abba Moro would have been executed publicly since 2015!

@dondd74: I feel so sad for this generation of our nation. If we had the bulk of people who oppose Buhari’s admin supporting any other than PDP, I would have been at peace. Where does PDP get the ethical and moral stand to oppose anyone. See Abba Moro talking too‏

@Generalkopho: Imagine Abba Moro having the gut to still speak. Learnt he is even contesting to become a Senator. Nigeria!!! General Kopho added,

‏@legitngnews:“In 2015, people voted for change and today we have seen the outcome of the so-called change. People now live from hand to mouth, no food. There is hunger everywhere in the land.” – Comrade Abba Moro

@james_comrade: Is more painful when Men like Abba Moro are let into politics after what happened in Nigeria immigration recruitment during his time as a minister in the last government. Such men are supposed to be in the prison.

@eldris3032: If not because of slow dispensation of justice in Nigeria, Abba Moro suppose to be serving his jail term for scamming the applicants and caused their deaths in the process of justifying the over 700m naira he took as registration fees for non existent job.
