The trial of the immediate past Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, suffered a setback on Wednesday, as Justice Anwuri Chikere of the Federal High Court, Abuja withdrew from the case.

Moro and his co-accused are standing trail over the ill-fated Immigration recruitment exercise that led to the death of several applicants with many others injured.

The judge had fixed Wednesday for the commencement of trail but suddenly announced that she was returning the case file to the Chief Judge for the Federal High Court for reassignment to another judge.

Justice Chikere did not give any reason for her decision.

It would be recalled that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, had arraigned Moro alongside a former Permanent Secretary in the Interior Ministry, Mrs. Anastasia Daniel-Nwobia‎; a former director in the ministry, Felix .O Alayebami, and a firm, Drexel Tech Nigeria Limited on a six counts charge for their roles in the 2014 recruitment exercise of the Nigerian Immigration Service while Moro was minister.
