Abductors free Gov Masari’s 80-year-old mother in-law

KATSINA: Residents protest as bandits kill eighteen in Batsari LG

The 80-year-old Hajiya Maistiyari, mother in-law to governor of Katsina state, Aminu Masari has been released by abductors.

This came after the octogenarian was kidnapped last Friday morning at her No 13, Dandume Crescent, Sabon Gari area of Katsina State.

The spokesman for Katsina Police Command, SP Gambo Isah, who confirmed her release, said:

“I am very happy to inform you that the mother in- law of His Excellency, Aminu Masari, has been released by her abductors yesterday 14/03/2019 by 16:00hrs.

“She is hale and hearty. She has already been reunited with her family after necessary medical check-ups.”

He added that It was unknown to them whether any ransom was paid for her release.

Meanwhile, a notorious member of a kidnap group, Haruna Adamu, who hails from Zamfara State was arrested by the command.

The command disclosed that he was arrested after he allegedly attacked a family in Batsari local government arear of the state along with his gang members who are currently on the run.

“The syndicate attacked the house of one Mustapha Sani ‘M’ of Bakon Zabo Village, Batsari; and attempted to kidnap his two wives but they were resisted.

“They were pursued and the said Haruna was arrested by a combined team of Police and vigilante members of the village.

“The Command continues to solicit for the co-operation and support of general public in the fight against banditry” SP Isah said.
