Imo APGA crisis worsens as 12 aggrieved gov aspirants present another candidate

A member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chigozie Onyeukwu Ubani, has resigned his membership of the party.

Ubani, who was the party’s House of Assembly candidate for Obingwa East constituency of Abia State in the just concluded 2019 general elections, revealed this in a letter addressed to the party chairman at ward 11, Obingwa local Government of the state, made available to reporters in Umuahia, on Saturday.

His resignation letter partly read, “While Thanking God for the opportunities given taken within the period of my membership of the party, let me also thank the either membership for your support”.

Ubani had lost the constituency election to the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Solomon Akpulonu.

According to the result announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Akpulonu polled 30,306 votes, while the All Progressive followed closely with 1,241 votes. Ubani at third place, garnered 998 votes.

Ubani, a security expert and fellow of the Institute of Security Nigeria joined partisan politics in the year 2014.

He had also contested the 2016 Obingwa Local government Chairmanship polls on the platform of APGA, but was defeated by the PDP candidate.
