Abia Assembly Speaker resigns less than 24 hours after being swearing in

It appears a drama of some sort is playing out in Abia State House of Assembly as Kennedy Njoku, the new Speaker, resigned less than 24 hours after being elected.

Njoku it was learnt, claimed the decision to reign barely a day after emerging the House Speaker, was based on personal grounds.

Upon his resignation, a motion by the Majority Leader of the Assembly on the need to immediately fill the vacuum, led to Chikwendu Kalu, who represents Isialangwa South State Constituency being nominated as the next Speaker and was subsequently sworn in.
