Abraham gets first call-up to England senior team

Published

England have called up the uncapped Tammy Abraham, Joe Gomez and Ruben Loftus-Cheek for the friendlies against Germany and Brazil this month, English media report.

Abraham, who has featured at youth level for England, is also eligible to play for Nigeria.

But efforts to make him agree to play with the Super Eagles by the Nigeria Football Federation proved abortive.

And England manager Gareth Southgate has decided to hand the 20-year old his first call-up for the double header friendlies this November.

On the Three Lions Twitter handle, Abraham and the other two fresh call-ups were congratulated.

“Congratulations to Joe Gomez, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Tammy Abraham on their first Three Lions call-ups,” the Three Lions tweeted on Thursday.

Abraham is currently on loan at Swansea City, from Premier League champions, Chelsea.

He has scored four goals and provided 1 assist so far this season, to help his side sit just above the relegation zone.
