Abuja driver who stripped naked in protest after arrest sent to jail

A taxi driver, Emmanuel Imhoudu has been sentenced to six months in jail by an Abuja magistrate court for flouting the lockdown order by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The court found Imhoudu guilty of the three count charge brought against and sentenced him to two months for each of the charges.

The court however gave him an option of paying a fine of N10,000 on each count and tender a public apology on any television network in the country.

It would be recalled that the driver had appeared in a video that went viral on social media, where he stripped naked while protesting against security agents who impounded his taxi.

According to Imhoudu, hunger pushed him out of his home in spite of the lockdown order in place in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Speaking also on why he went naked, Imhoudu said he did that because he wanted everyone to know that “all was not well with him and his family.”
