Abuja Hospitals Groan Over Water Shortage, Poor Electricity

Published

on

Shortage of water, dearth of electricity supply, non-patronage, poor funding, obsolete equipment and shortage of staff and insecurity, are the major challenges facing general hospitals in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), as revealed by our investigation.

Our investigation also revealed that these challenges facing public hospitals in the FCT are responsible for the inability of residents to access proper health care services in the nation’s capital, especially in the rural areas of the territory.

Worst hit by these crises are the general hospitals located in Abaji, Rubochi, in Kuje area council and Kwali General Hospital, which have been going through various levels of difficulties in healthcare delivery over the years.

A visit to Rubochi General Hospital recently revealed that the hospital which serves over 30 surrounding communities is having the challenge of acute shortage of water and electricity supply to the facility.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the hospital, which has 45-bed capacity, has been battling with non-patronage by residents of Rubochi community and its environs.
