ABUJA: Unknown gunmen kill 7 policemen on patrol

A tragic scene played out along the Nnamdi Azikiwe Road, Federal Capital Territory in Abuja when a group of unknown gunmen attacked and killed no less than seven policemen on patrol.

Reports say immediately after the attack which saw the assailants fatally shooting at the policemen in a surprise attack, the gunmen fled the scene of the incident in the vehicle they came with.

During the attack, scores of residents, passers-by and motorists scrambled for safety as the heavily armed gunmen shot sporadically scaring many into temporary hideouts.

The incident was confirmed by Mr. Sadiq Bello the Commissioner of Police who said he was yet to be briefed over the incident and also noted that a statement concerning the incident will be issued soon.
