AC Milan reach Italian Cup semifinal

Published

Carlos Bacca scored one goal and set up another as AC Milan held on to beat Carpi 2-1 on Wednesday to reach the Italian Cup semi-finals.

Milan will next face either second-division Spezia or third-division Alessandria.

Bacca put Milan ahead by dribbling around Carpi goalkeeper Zeljko Brkic to shoot into an empty net after taking a pass from Keisuke Honda.

Bacca then provided the cross for M’Baye Niang to finish off a counterattack near the half-hour mark at the San Siro.

Matteo Mancosu pulled one back for Carpi early in the second half on his debut with the club, having joined on loan Tuesday from Bologna.

The victory should give under-pressure Milan manager Sinisa Mihajlovic some breathing room.
