ACF condemns Akande, Falana, others' remarks on Buhari’s health

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has described as careless the remarks on President Muhammadu Buhari’s health made by a leader and former national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chief Bisi Akande, human rights activist, Femi Falana and others.

Akande had on Monday recalled how he wept as Buhari was not able to attend the wedding of his adopted son in Kaduna on Saturday due to ill-health and called on Nigerians to fervently pray for his recovery.

Likewise, Falana and a group of civil society organisations also urged President Buhari to proceed on urgent medical leave in order to attend to his deteriorating health.

However, responding to those concerns in a statement in Kaduna on Tuesday, the ACF through its national publicity secretary, Muhammadu Ibrahim, said such alarms were needless.

The body said, “Arewa Consultative Forum has observed with concern that some individuals are carelessly making unnecessary remarks pertaining to the health of President Muhammadu Buhari. What Nigerians need to do now is to pray for his good health and not to speculate or draw conclusions which will do no one any good.

“ACF advises Nigerians to please pray for the improvement of Mr. President’s health so that he can serve the nation with more vigour,” the statement read.
