ADAMAWA: Court dismisses bid to disqualify Gov Bindo from guber poll

A bid to disqualify Adamawa State Governor, Mohammed Jibrilla Bindow, from the forthcoming gubernatorial polls in the state has been struck out by a Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court.

Governor Bindow was given the go ahead to contest in the polls after a move to truncate his mandate over alleged certificate forgery was dismissed by Justice Olukayode Adeniyi.

The presiding judge gave the judgment after lawyers to parties involved in the case had presented their briefs and argued over the case.

Governor Bindow of Adamawa was dragged before a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, over his eligibility to contest the 2019 governorship election in the state.

The plaintiff in the matter, Mahmoud Halilu Ahmed, had asked the court to disqualify the governor from contesting the forthcoming election on the grounds that he doesn’t have the requisite academic qualification to do so, but his move seems to have hit a brickwall after all.
