Adele named biggest selling artiste of 2015

British songstress, Adele, has been officially declared the biggest-selling musician of 2015, according to global music industry body, International Federation of Phonographic Industry (IFPI).

Describing her feat “simply phenomenal”, the organisation said based on worldwide sales of recordings, the English ballad singer was the “runaway global sensation of the year”.

The declaration, to some, does not come as a surprise considering the meteoric rise of her song ‘Hello’ off her album titled 25 which became a worldwide hit despite being released in the last two months of 2015, selling more than any other musician worldwide last year.

Although it does not release figures, the IFPI presents its annual award based on an artist’s physical and digital sales as well as streaming.
