AFCON: Burkina Faso beat Ghana to third place

The defeat sent Ghana to fourth place for the third time in the past four Nations Cup tournaments – as they had lost to Zambia in 1996, and Mali twice in 2012 and 2013.

But for the Burkinabe, the victory was their first ever win in a third place match. They had lost to DR Congo in the third place match in 1998.

And as the 2017 edition of the CAF competition comes to a close, the final showdown of the tournament will be between Cameroon and Egypt on Sunday at Libreville.
