AFCON: Burkina Faso beat Tunisia to reach semi-finals

Burkina Faso on Saturday netted in two late goals to beat Tunisia 2-0 and clinch a spot in the semi-finals of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

Goals from Aristide Bance and Prejuce Nakoulma gave the Stallions their third quater-finals win at the CAF tournament.

Five minutes after coming off the bench, substitute Bance scored with a low drive from a free-kick in the 81st minute to put the winners ahead. And four minutes later, Nakoulma cemented the victory by a counter-attack.

Burkina Faso last reached this stage in AFCON 2013 when they finished as runners-up in the competition.

Tunisia’s defeat means they have lost their past five quarter-finals in the biennial championship, while Burkina Faso remain in the hunt for a first Nations Cup title.

Ultimately, whoever wins between Morocco and Egypt in Sunday’s quater-final tie, will face winners Burkina Faso in the last four on Wednesday.
