AFROBASKET 2017: D’Tigers conquer Cameroon, to face Senegal in semifinals

Nigeria’s senior men’s basketball team, D’Tigers, made it through to the semifinals of the 2017 FIBA Men’s AfroBasket Championship after conquering Cameroon on Thursday.

The defending champions beat their Cameroonian counterparts 106-91 points in the quarterfinal match played in Tunis.

Nigeria led with 25-18 points from the first quarter before putting up an impressive performance in the second quarter to end the first half leading with 52-43 points.

Cameroon came fighting in the third round and took made away with with 27-23 points over Nigeria, but D’Tigers stepped up their game to win the last quarter with 31-21 points.

Nigeria won the game 106-91 to set up a semifinal meeting with Senegal, who defeated Angola 66-57 later on Thursday.

As the Nigerian men continue in their quest of retaining the title they won in 2015, they will face Senegal in the last four on Friday with the hope of clinching a ticket to the final.
