Nigeria’s senior male basketball team, the D’Tigers, on Wednesday secured an impressive 100-70 win over Mozambiqueto progress to the quarterfinals of the ongoing AfroBasket2015 in Tunisia.
Led by the Aminu brothers – Al-Farouq and Alade – and new Barcelona signing Olaseni Lawal, the Nigerian team started the match on a high note by winning all the four quarters.
Alade scored 14 points, while his younger brother Al-Farouq scored 10. But the biggest star of the night was Lawal who grabbed his first double-double of the tournament with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Veteran skipper of the Nigerian team, Olumide Oyedeji, also contributed eight rebounds.
Up next for Nigeria is a quarterfinal clash today (Thursday) against Gabon, who against all odds stunned Cape Verde 77-67 on Wednesday to advance to the last eight.
Therence Gyll Mayimba came off the bench to lead the Gabonese with a team-best 17 points, and Nigeria coach, Will Voigt, will have to devise a strategy to stop the Gabonese forward.
Cape Verde entered the final quarter leading 58-55 but turned the ball over six times in the last ten minutes to ruin their chances of advancing to the quarterfinals for the second time in a row.
