D’Tigress through to AfroBasket quarterfinals after beating Cameroon 106-39

Nigeria women’s basketball team, D’Tigress have sealed their spot in the quarter-finals of the ongoing FIBA AfroBasket in Dakar, Senegal.

Nigeria, defending champions of the continental showpiece, walloped Cameroon 106-39 on Tuesday.

Having kicked off their campaign with a victory over Tunisia, D’Tigress are three wins away from retaining the title they won in 2017.

Cameroon were no match for D’Tigress as they lost to the champions in all four quarters of the encounter.

The first quarter saw D’Tigress ahead 21-7, and by the end of the second quarter, scoreline was 49-23 in Nigeria’s favour.

By the third quarter, Nigeria improved even more and were leading by 71-33, before sealing the victory in the final quarter by 67 points difference.

Precious Amukamara was the top performer in the game for Nigeria, earning 14 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists.
