After 2,500 deaths, WHO declares Guinea Ebola-free

After recording more than 2,500 deaths in the world’s worst Ebola Virus Disease outbreak, Guinea was Tuesday declared free from the disease by the World Health Organization, WHO.

The west African country was the worst hit and the latest outbreak also started there.

A statement by the WHO said: “Today the World Health Organization (WHO) declares the end of Ebola virus transmission in the Republic of Guinea,”
Guinea and neighbors, Liberia and Sierra Leone recorded high casualties in the Ebola outbreak that ravaged West Africa.
