Ortom rejects establishment of 'Ruga' settlement in Benue

The first patient to test positive to COVID-19 in Benue State has been moved to the Isolation Centre at the National Hospital, Abuja.

The patient, Susan Okpe, 62, will continue her treatment of the dreaded virus in Abuja.

The development came two days after Okpe posted a video online complaining about the poor condition of the isolation center in Benue where she was kept and being treated.

She had in the video, which went viral on social media, vowed that the medical doctor assigned to treat her must reveal his identity before she would allow him to treat her.

The video it was learnt, caused a faceoff between the patient and the management of the isolation center.

In a letter to the Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, the Benue Isolation Centre management requested that she be moved to Abuja.

In the letter, the management said the transfer was “necessary so as to ensure proper management and in order to put to rest controversies and panic surrounding her case as well as the need for absolute containment of the Covid -19 in Benue State.”
