After failed bid to govern Anambra, Ifeanyi Ubah aims for senatorial seat

After his attempt to become Anambra governor during the November 2017 governorship election in the state failed, the Chief Executive of Capital Oil and Gas Limited, Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah, has decided to try his political luck with a senatorial position.

Ubah, who dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), after failing the governorship primary election of the party in 2017, to join the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has declared his intention to run for Anambra South senatorial district poll in the coming 2019 general elections.

According to reports monitored by Ripples Nigeria, the former Labour Party (LP) turned PDP member declared his senatorial ambition at APGA, Anambra South zone stakeholders’ meeting, held at Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government Area on Saturday.

“I have worked for APGA and want to continue to do so as your representative in the Senate. Judge me by my records. I have fought for the interest of the Igbo all over the country. APGA is our party; I have given so much to the party in the past, including making sure that it still exists and waxes stronger in the state,” he said.

Noting that his political value is not only known in the state but across the country, Ubah said, “Our major task is to take the party to other states in the South-East zone.”

He listed youth and women empowerment in the areas of sports, education and commerce as areas he will focus major attention if elected.

A senator of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Andy Uba, who had also failed in bid to govern the state, is currently the person representing that zone at the Senate.
