Again, Atiku visits IBB In secret, shuns supporters

Some supporters of the former Vice President and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential aspirant, Atiku Abubakar, on Sunday expressed disappointment with the way he treated them.

Atiku had for the second time on Sunday visited former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (retd) for a secret meeting at his Hill-top residence Minna, Niger State.

The former Vice President who arrived Minna Airport at about 12:16 and drove straight to General Babangida’s house, had after the meeting with the former military leader that lasted for over three hours, shunned members of the press, and his team of supporters who besieged the entrance of Babangida’s residence.

Atiku had zoomed off in a long convoy of vehicles to the Minna Airport where he took off at about 3:46pm.

This development did not go down well with his supporters, who had patiently waited for hours, hoping he will acknowledge them on his way out.

Among the supporters who expressed their disappointments was one Abubakar Ahmed.

He told newsmen, “We are here mainly because of him but we are disappointed in the way he treated us. We will however look forward to another visit before knowing the final step to take.”

However, the Niger State Coordinator for ‘Hope for Atiku 2019’ Mohammed Kutigi said that though he did not “acknowledge us, it is however certain that he is aware that he has supporters in Niger state.”

While the details of the meeting was not made public, speculations are that it may not be unconnected with the former Vice President’s presidential ambition.

He had also last December visited Babangida in Minna, and had as well shunned the newsmen and his supporters who besieged Babangida’s residence and even the Minna Airport because of him.
