Again, Muslim cleric accuses Matawalle of sponsoring bandit leader Haroo
Outspoken Sokoto State-based Islamic cleric, Sheikh Murtala Bello Asada, has again, accused Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, of sponsoring another notorious bandit leader identified as Haroo, whom he said is even deadlier than the likes of Bello Turji.
Sheikh Asada had in a video last week, accused Matawalle of buying Hilux vehicles for the bandit kingpins and also making huge funds available to them.
According to the video posted on X by security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Makama Zagazola, the cleric said Matawalle was not serious with the fight to dislodge the notorious bandit leaders and their gangs as he knows where the bandits are.
‘The Prominent Cleric in Sokoto state, has accused the State Minister of Defence of buying Hilux vehicles to top Bandits like Sububu, Ada Allero, and Bello Turji and he provides video evidence,” he had said.
“He described as a joke the bounty placed on Bello Turji head. The cleric said that the statement of the minister saying that he will reward anybody N20 million who knows where the security can find Bello Turji was a joke and a skit making, emphasizing that the Minister knows BELLO TURJI and where he can find him.”
However, in another trending video posted by an X user with the handle@AM_Saleeeem on Thursday, Asada said Matawalle has been behind Haroo who is his boy.
“When you talk about Haroo (a terrorist), Bello Turji is nothing more than a little Almajiri,” he said in the video.
‘Haroo has over 500 guns in his possession, but when he was arrested by operatives, the State Minister of Defense, Bello Matawalle, called Lamorde and told him to release Haroo, saying he is ‘his boy.’
“Matawalle sent one of his men, named Bashar, to bail him out. They then took him to a private hospital for medical treatment, and Matawalle gave him N3 million. If anyone dares, they should come and prove me wrong,” Asada said.
