Again, NNPC fails to remit $1.48bn, FAAC claims

Contrary to what the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, told Nigerians that the NNPC had begun refunding $1.48bn into the federation account as directed by PriceWaterHouse Coopers in its forensic audit of the corporation, no such thing has been done.

This much was made known by the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC) which on Friday raised the alarm after its monthly meeting.

Chairman of the Forum of Finance Commissioners and Commissioner for Finance in Ebonyi State, Mr. Timothy Odaah, who spoke at the end of the FAAC meeting, told journalists that no amount had been transferred to the account.

He said, “The most important thing is for the public to know that we campaign and demanded for it because it is the money meant for the states and the federal government as well as the local governments.

“Entirely, it is the nation and Mr. President has directed that the money be paid to the federation account including the minister of petroleum but it is important to know that we have not seen anything.”

Odaah also criticised state governors who are owing workers’ salaries, saying that no governor had any excuse for owing, even as the three tiers of government shared N388 billion for May expenditure.

He said those owing should be held responsible by the workers and the public adding that such governors should have made payment of salaries their priority, rather than spending state funds on electioneering campaigns.

Interesting…that state governors have no reason to owe. Hmmm!
