Ahead Ondo guber poll Gov Mimiko's aides abandon him, join opposition APC

Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko on Wednesday received resignation letters of two of his special assistants, who also defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) same day without delay.

They were Special Assistant on Political Matters, Mrs. Aderonke Morolayo, and the Special Assistant on Mobilisation, Mr. Victor Ojo.

Morolayo had in her letter of resignation dated November 2, 2016 wrote, “This is to formally inform Your Excellency of my resignation from the government of Ondo State due to circumstances beyond my control.

“Your Excellency let me also use this medium to thank and appreciate you for counting me worthy to serve the good people of Ondo state in this capacity.”

She told some people that Mimiko’s choice of having his successor from the Central Senatorial District, a place himself is also from, would make Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lose the November 26 governorship election.

The state APC Publicity Secretary, Mr. Abayomi Adesanya, said in a statement that the two politicians had been welcomed into the party by the deputy governorship candidate in the forthcoming election, Mr. Agboola Ajayi.

According to the statement, Ajayi promised the defectors of equal opportunities and asked them to work diligently for APC’s victory and progress in the state.
