Aircraft carrying Brazilian players crashes in Colombia

An aircraft bearing a Brazilian football team Chapeocoense has reportedly crash during its flight to the Colombian city of Medellin with 72 players on board.

It is still not very clear if anyone survived.

The Brazilian team was scheduled to lock horns with Atletico National in Wednesday’s final of the Copa Sudamerica finals in Medellin.

The final has now been suspended.

The plane is said to have crashed in a mountainous area outside the city shortly before midnight local time

Federico Gutierrez the mayor of Medellin said that it is very likely that there would be survivors “it is a tragedy of huge proportions”. Mr Gutierrez told Blu Radio.
