Airman who killed lover in fit of rage to die by hanging- Court

The hangers noose awaits Airman Kalu Bernard, for shooting and killing his girlfriend, Oladipupo Solape, who is known as Shomzy Shomzy (an Air Force personnel) in fit of rage and jealousy.

During his trial, an eight-count charge was read out in a 70-page court findings, against 21-year-old Kalu by the Judge Advocate, Flight Lieutenant M.A. Umoh, and it included murder, house breaking, impersonation and attempted murder, among others.

The accused was found guilty in six out of the eight counts leveled before him and the President of the court, Gp. Capt. Elisha Bindul sentenced him to death by hanging, subject to the confirmation of the conveying authority, but not before Abimiku Ewuga, the defence counsel urged the court to temper justice with mercy.

On March 12, 2017, the accussed snuffed life out of his lover at the Air Force Base in Makurdi, the Benue State capital when he broke into Oladipupo’s home before he allegedly shot her in the neck at close range after accussing her of double dating.
