2019: Ak[pabio declares war in Akwa Ibom

The legal team of Senator Godswill Akpabio on Wednesday claimed that its effort to inspect election materials used for the conduct of election into Ikot-Ekpene senatorial district is being frustrated by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Akpabio’s legal team made the claim in Uyo while speaking with newsmen on Wednesday. They accused the electoral umpire of frustrating the ongoing inspection of election materials and unnecessarily delaying the process.

The legal team led by Mr. Patrick Umoh, who marched to INEC office at resumption of inspection with his other colleagues, noted that there was a prearranged plan by the electoral body to frustrate the move.

Umoh said, “We have not commenced proper inspection of the materials. When we got here yesterday (Tuesday) all the materials used for the governorship, Presidential and National Assembly elections were heaped in one place.

“We demanded for the voters registers, results sheets and others but they refused to provide them on the grounds that there were supposed to be brought in by Electoral Officers from the respective local government councils. There is a systemic frustration that has been prearranged by INEC,” he added.
