Akwa Utd beat MFM as Plateau Utd go top

Akwa United added to MFM away woes as they defeated the Agege side 2-0 in their Nigeria Professional Football League matchday 19 clash at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Wednesday.

The hosts, who opened scoring in the 18th minute through Alhassan Ibrahim and doubled their lead on the half-hour mark through Ubong Friday, took all three points from the game, as MFM drop down to second on the log.

At the Rwang Pam Stadium in Jos, Plateau United reclaimed top spot after their convincing 3-0 win against Katsina United.

A goal each from Reuben Bala, Kabiru Umar and Jimmy Ambrose in the seventh, 47th and 85th minutes respectively earned the Jo’s side the big win.

In Maiduguri, Samuel Mathias was on target as El-Kanemi Warriors earned a hard-fought 1-0 win against ABS.

Enyimba grabbed a slim 1-0 home win against Remo Stars, as FC IfeanyiUbah fought back to win 10-man Shooting Stars 2-1.

In the other matches on Wednesday, former NPFL champions Kano Pillars suffered their third straight defeat after going down 1-0 to Niger Tornadoes; a hat-trick from Anthony Okpotu sealed a 3-1 home win against Sunshine Stars, while Abia Warriors defeated visiting Wikki Tourists 2-0.
