ALI BABA TO BUHARI: Create enabling environment, enact policies to promote the arts sector

Ace stand-up comedian Ali Baba is of the opinion that trigger-happy policemen should be punished accordingly by the government whenever anyone of them shoots an unarmed citizen.

The Delta State born artiste popularly referred to by fans as “Father of Modern Comedy”, took to his Instagram page suggesting that such police officers should be dismissed and his/her pension be paid to the deceased family.

“I have a suggestion… any time any trigger happy policeman shoots an unarmed citizen, and it can be proven that it was not necessary, like in cases of accidental discharge or just because he was provoked during an argument, the officer should not only be dismissed, and his pension should be paid to the family of the deceased.”

In recent times, the comedian has been critical of men of the Nigerian Police especially with the way they treat innocent civilians.

Recall that in August of 2016, Ali Baba made an appeal to President Buhari to call the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris to order over the continued detention of one Joe Chinakwe by the Ogun State Police Command, for naming his dog, ‘Buhari’.
