More headaches for Sen Abbo, as Senate sets up c'ttee to probe his 'assault' of nursing mother

Senator Elisha Abbo, who was caught on tape assaulting a sales attendant at a sex toy shop in Abuja, has presented himself to the Federal Capital Territory, FCT Police Command for investigation.

Following public outrage over the alleged assault, the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, had ordered a thorough investigation into the allegation against the senator.

The IGP also asked Ciroma to undertake a forensic investigation of the footage which showed Abbo repeatedly slapping his victim over what appeared to be a minor disagreement while a police officer looked on.

According to the FCT police commissioner, Bala Ciroma, Abbo walked into the station on Thursday afternoon, having received an invitation letter from the command.

Ciroma assured that investigation had begun on the case bordering on assault.

He said: “Yes, it is true that he has surrendered himself. He has already come in and we are investigating.

“He came into the Command this afternoon after we sent an invitation letter to him based on the directive of the IGP and he honoured it.”

Ciroma however said he could not tell whether the Adamawa North senator would be taken into custody.
