ALLEGED GRAFT: Adeosun insists SEC DG remains suspended, to send recommendations to Buhari

ADEOSUN: FG released N1.6tn for capital expenditure in 2017 budget

Finance Minister, Kemi Adeosun, on Tuesday insisted that the Director of Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Munir Gwarzo, remains suspended.

The minister also said that she was going to send her recommendation sequel to the findings of the Administrative Panel of Inquiry (API), which she set up to investigate and determine the culpability of the SEC DG on corruption allegations levelled against him, to President Muhammadu Buhari.

She stated this on Tuesday during the House of Representatives public hearing on the conflict between her and the suspended Director General of SEC, organised by Reps Committee in Capital Markets and other Institutions.

The Committee is chaired by Tajudeen Yusuf, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member from Kogi State.

Adeosun told the committee that ”Munir remains suspended and I’m sending my recommendations to Mr President today (Tuesday).

Gwarzo through his Counsel, GUK Igwe (SAN), had argued that the minister has no such right to suspend the DG.

Adeosun suspended Gwarzo over allged corruption charges levelled against the SEC DG.

She subsequently set up an Administrative Panel of Inquiry (API) to investigate and determine the culpability of the Director-General.
