The expected fireworks between Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and his accuser, Timi Frank, over an alleged N90bn election fund may have been launched. The later had accused the former of surreptitiously drawing the said sum of money from the vaults of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) to fund part of the 2019 general elections.

The VP has since begun a fight back to clear his name of the alleged acts of corruption. In addition to denying the allegations, he has said that he was willing to shed his immunity in pursuit of justice.

As a first step, Osinbajo has commissioned his lawyers to sue Timi Frank and Katch Ononuju.

However, speaking Thursday morning on live television programme, Sunrise Daily, aired on Channels Television, Frank insisted that he was sticking to his position and vowed to meet the VP and his team at the courts.

“I’m ready to meet the VP in court and won’t be blackmailed into submission. I was once the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the ruling party, I know too much about APC.

“If the VP wants to keep to his words of waiving his immunity, he should resign first resign from office. Until he does that, I consider his claims a Yahoo Yahoo statement,” Frank said.

Ripples Nigeria had reported how Osinbajo’s office had become focus of national discourse as his principal, President Muhammadu Buhari, took far reaching decisions to curtail his deputy’s power and influence.
