ALUU 4: My son’s killers deserve to die

Mr Toku Mike, the father of Lloyd, one of the four students of University of Port Harcourt (Aluu 4) that were brutally murdered by a mob in Aluu Community on October 5, 2012, has said although he had forgiven the killers of his son and his friends, nevertheless, they deserve to die to serve as a deterrent to others.

He spoke with Newtelegraph correspondent on Thursday in Port Harcourt.
When asked whether he had forgiven the killers of his son, he said: “I would simply advise them that in their next world, they should thread with caution, and avoid taking the law into their own hands if they come across a similar situation. I would equally let them know that I have forgiven them, and wish their souls to rest in peace.”

At a point, he felt disappointed and discouraged during the course of the case. But, he never gave up, for, according to him, “I knew that no matter how long it took, God Almighty was going to fight and win the battle for me and the other families.”

Mike, however, said that mob actions have taken hold of a better part of the Nigerian society.
The Aluu 4, he added, is not the first of such case in Nigeria. He believes several mob cases carried out in the past succeeded but went unnoticed because of the shortcoming of security agents.
He said: “those who carried out mob actions got away with them because of the absence of social media.”
