AMAA set to announce nominees for 2018 awards ceremony in Kigali

Organisers of the 2018 African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) are reportedly set to announce nominees for forthcoming awards ceremony scheduled to be staged in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda.

Reports say the nominees will be announced on August 3, 2018, in Lagos, Nigeria, with African movie industry players and some members of the diplomatic community expected to grace the event.

Expected to officially announce the nominees for this year’s awards ceremony are Dorothee Wenner, German Filmmaker and Berlin Film Festival Curator who is also the president of the jury and Chairman of the screening committee, Shaibu Husseini.

Last month, the Rwandan government through the Rwanda Convention Bureau and Rwanda Tourism Bureau accepted to host the 2018 edition of the African Movie Academy Awards in Kigali in the month of September.

According to a statement issued in Lagos by the organisers, the event which is the 14th edition will hold at the Radisson Blu Hotel & Convention Centre in Kigali on Saturday, September 22, 2018.
