AMAECHI AGAIN: Another justice says he wanted him to compromise in Ekiti, Rivers, Ebonyi election cases

Another Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Sylvester Ngwuta, has accused the Transport Minister, Rotimi Amaechi of asking him to pervert justice in governorship election disputes involving Ekiti, Rivers and Ebonyi states.

The judge, who was among the judges whose home were raided by operatives of the Department of State Service (DSS), also alleged that the Minister of Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu collaborated with Amaechi in making the alleged demands.

According to him, the duo had approached him to ensure that the All Progressives Congress (APC) win the above mentioned states’ governorship election court cases.

He said it was his refusal to do their biddings that led to his present ordeal.

Justice Ngwuta stated this in a letter dated October 18 and forwarded to the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Justice Mahmud Mohammed and the National Judicial Council (NJC).

He alleged in the letter entitled, “Invasion of My House in the Night, Planting of Huge Sums of Money in Different Currencies, Purported Recovery of the Money, Carting Away of My Documents and other Valuable Items and My Subsequent Abduction by Masked Operatives of the DSS between Friday, October 7th and Saturday, October 8th, 2016”, that Amaechi and Onu begged him to facilitate the removal of Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State.

He also alleged that immediately after the Supreme Court declaration on the election of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, that Amaechi had also called him on phone to say, “Oga is not happy”.

This is coming just as Justice John Inyang Okoro, one of the Supreme Court judges arrested by DSS for alleged corrupt practices, also in a letter to CJN alleged that Amaechi had visited him in his residence claiming that the President sent him.

He said that Amaechi had asked him during the visit to pervert justice in Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Abia states and that his refusal is the reason he is being targeted for disgrace.
