Amaechi, Kwankwaso, Nyako, others welcomed —PDP BoT Chairman

Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sen. Walid Jubrin, has said that the doors of the party are open to receive all those who decamped prior to the 2015 general elections.

He said “they are welcome” when asked if such persons like Transportation Minister, Rotimi Amaechi, ex-Kano state governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, his ex-Adamawa state counterpart, Adm. Murtala Nyako etc are welcome to return to the party.

He however was silent on efforts made by the party to woo them back to the fold though he hinted that a committee led by former Senate President, Sen. David Mark, was at work on the project.

Sen. Jubrin spoke when he confirmed to Ripples Nigeria that recent crisis in the PDP, caused by a split from a group which called itself Fresh-PDP, has been resolved.
He said PDP is now one party and poised to give All Progressives Congress (APC) a run for its seriousness towards the presidency in 2019.

He thanked leadership of the splinter PDP for dropping their agitation and re-joining the larger fold.

A short statement he sent to Ripples Nigeria reads: “The BoT and the national leadership of the party were very well involved and played a great role in the dissolution of the fresh PDP recently formed by some aggrieved members of the party.

“I was the first to interact with the group when it was formed pleading with them to follow the reconciliation methodology set by the party. Now that the group has been totally dismantled PDP is now fully set to take over mantle of leadership at federal, state, and local government levels.

“The BoT shall intensify it’s efforts in bringing total peace and unity to the party as can be seen in my setting up BoT internal reconciliation committee to settle its aggrieved members under the chairmanship of Senator David Mark.

“The committee has begun contacting some foundation members and some aggrieved BoT members. When I receive the report I will discuss with national chairman and party leaders to enable us cement our problems.

“I want to congratulate BoT members who partook in the meditation namely Chief Okwesilieze Nwodo and Senator Omu and NWC members.

“I equally congratulate leadership of former FreshPDP who has reason on coming back to the party I shall intensify my efforts in seeing that all PDP members who left the party are welcomed back.

“We are also ready to receive new members”, he said.
