Amid high tension, North Korea test fires fourth successive ballistic missile

Defiant North Korea led by hard stance President Kim Jong Un has test fired a ballistic missile despite rising tension in the Korean peninsula.

The missile test by North Korea which has continued to defy pressure appeared to have failed according to US and South Korean officials.

Reacting to the failed missile test, US President Donald Trump in a post on Twitter said; “North Korea disrespected the wishes of China & its highly respected President when it launched, though unsuccessfully, a missile today. Bad!”

Reports say the missile which was launched from an area north of the capital Pyongyang, is the fourth successive unsuccessful missile test since March.

The test came as Rex Tillerson, US secretary of state, gave warning that the UN Security Council that failure to curb North Korea’s nuclear and ballistic missile programmes could lead to “catastrophic consequences”.
