Amodu buried as NFF owes coach 7-month salary

The body of former Super Eagles Coach, Amodu Shuaibu, was buried on Saturday amidst tears from families and friends at his residence in Okpella, Etsako -East local government area of Edo State.

Amodu’s body had arrived Okpella from Benin at about 12.30 pm and was brought to the inner chambers of his house at about 5.07 pm for burial according to Muslim rites.

At about 4:00p.m., mother of the late Amodu, who had earlier been taken to the palace of the Okuokpellagbe of Okpella, Alhaji A.Y.E. Dirisu, was returned to the compound after she had been informed of her son’s death.

Meanwhile, former Super Eagles goalkeeper Peterside Idah has revealed that the Nigeria Football Federation owes Amodu seven months salaries.

Amodu, 58, was the NFF technical director since October 2014 with a salary of 800,000 Naira a month.

“NFF please pay the ones that are ALIVE, got a call from him that he has not been paid for about 7 months,” Peterside tweeted.

“My coach, my mentor, my friend, my boss is dead #RIPAmoduShuaibu.

“Amodu shuaibu elegant dresser and the most generous man I know on earth. Death, death, death please leave us ALONE.”
