2019: Tinubu will lose Lagos -Gov Amosun

Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun, has sanctioned the sacking of the state’s chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Akeem Ambali.

Also on the list of those approved to be sacked by the governor is Ambali’s vice and the state chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Dare Ilekoya and more than 18 others, who are mostly teachers.

This came as a result of the recommendations of a panel of inquiry set up to investigate the alleged wrongdoing of executive members of the NUT on the 2016 World Teachers Day celebration which took place on October 5, at the NUT Hall, Kuto, Abeokuta.

It was learnt that the officials of the union had been on suspension for their roles in the conduct of the celebration, before the final recommendation of their sack.

The NLC chairman, who until his dismissal was the deputy director, Community and Social Development, Sagamu Local Government Area of the state, was alleged to have used outrageous remarks against the state government that was possible of breaching peace in the state.

The recommendation of the panel was reportedly signed by the Head of Service, Sola Adeyemi and was sanctioned by the state government for immediate implementation.

However Ambali, in a statement on Monday night said his alleged sack shows Governor Amosun’s “executive recklessness and abuse of all statutory laws”.

He therefore asked workers in the state to remain determined in the pursuit to ensure they achieve their legitimate right from “an autocratic and deceitful government”.

He said, “We are calling on our ever committed workers to remain at home and not be intimidated by this action that was against all norms of democratic and fair hearing. I have never been summoned by any panel and this clearly shows how autocratic and deceitful the government of Ibikunle Amosun is.”
