The Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, said on Sunday the South West Security outfit codenamed Amotekun corps would become operational by the end of this month.

The governor, who spoke through his Special Adviser on Security Matters, Alhaji Jimoh Dojumo, added that recruitment of personnel would kick off later this week barring any last minute changes.

He said those to be recruited into the new security outfit would be trained by certified security experts.

The governor said: “Security issue is not what you reveal in the media. You keep certain things in order to achieve your desired results.

” I won’t reveal our modalities but I will simply tell you that we are working round the clock for the commencement of Operation Amotekun and it will kick-off any moment from now.

“All arrangements have been finalised. The training of the personnel will last for 21 days. But there will be more training and retraining for the personnel

“The security agencies will train those recruited. The recruitment and training will go together.

“We are only being careful to avoid flaws. The recruitment may start this week and immediately after the recruitment training will start.

“But our target time is before the end of March you will see the personnel patrolling roads in the South-West.”
