Emmanuel Amuneke appointed coach of Tanzania national team

Ex-Nigeria international Emmanuel Amuneke has been appointed new head coach of Tanzania national football team, the Football Federation have announced.

The former Al Khartoum SC of Sudan manager will now take over leadership of the Taifa Stars, who are Group L of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Amuneke signed a two-year contract with the TFF on Monday, to replace Salum Mayanga who had been in charge of Tanzania since last year.

His first competitive game in charge will be their matchday-two AFCON qualifier against Uganda in September.

“We shall have coaches for the other teams, but Amuneke will be the head starting with the 2019 African U-17 qualifiers which kick-off in Dar es Salaam this weekend.

“We are happy to have Amuneke who has played at the top and has a lot of experience as a coach. We have picked our very own from Africa,” Wallace Karia, president of the TFF was quoted by the BBC.
