ANAMBRA: 1 feared dead as masquerades attack church

An attempt by some masquerades to whisk away the Spiritual Director Holy Ghost Adoration Ministry identified as Rev Fr. Emmanuel Obimma has left one person dead.

Reports say the masqueraders allegedly beat up members of the church located at Ukeh, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State during the invasion which witnessed the injury of 30 church members.

An eyewitness who declined to be mentioned said three of the masqueraders were arrested.

The witness said; “The leadership of the church called the SARS operatives to protect worshippers. On arrival, the operatives arrested three masqueraders who were involved in the extortion, but their colleagues attempted to stop them from taking the arrested masqueraders away, prompting SARS operatives to shoot into the air before taking them away.”

The incident was confirmed Nkeiruka Nwode, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, who revealed that three suspects had been arrested in connection with the attack.
