ANAMBRA ’17: Youths ‘brainwashed’ by IPOB now see reason to be part of election- Nwoye

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the forthcoming Anambra governorship election, Tony Nwoye, has said that some of the youth that may have been “brainwashed” by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) into buying the group’s no-election campaign, now realize the benefit of participating in the election having weighed the odds.

Nwoye also revealed that his party was sensitising youths on the need to participate in the election slated for November 18.

He made these comments while speaking to State House correspondents on Friday in Abuja following his presentation to President Muhammadu Buhari by Bauchi State Governor, Mohammed Abubakar, who is Chairman, National Campaign Council of the APC for the Anambra governorship election.

Nwoye also said that the APC was not worried by IPOB’s threat to scuttle the election, urging the electorate to ignore the threat.

“We are not afraid of the threat. Our youths are unemployed; people are wailing and crying. These are the symptoms of what you are seeing now.

“Our people are seeing reasons why there should be elections.

“Some of them, who may have been brainwashed, are being engaged to see reasons why they should allow people to elect leaders of their choice”, he said.

He promised to run a transparent government that would focus on fighting poverty, if elected, while accusing the incumbent government of diverting monies meant for development.

Nwoye also promised to pay special attention to agriculture, education and other key sectors that would create jobs and engage youths in productive ventures.
