ANAMBRA: PDP’s Ekwunife sacks APGA’s Umeh from Senate

Senator Victor Umeh has joined the list of serving senators who will not be returning to the Senate following the outcome of last Saturday’s National Assembly election.

Umeh of the Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) which is the ruling party in Anambra State ruling party, and currently represents Anambra Central at the Senate, will have his seat taken over by Senator Uche Ekwunife of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Announcing the result of senatorial election held on February 23, the returning officer for the senatorial district, Professor Charles Ogu, said Ekwunife polled a total vote of 18,412 to defeat Umeh who got 14,403 votes.

Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sylvester Okonkwo, came third with 1,144 votes.

Umeh with the result has joined the growing list of serving senators who will not return to the hallowed chamber.
