There are indications that the Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Mrs Rita Maduagwu, may lose her top job, as lawmakers are said to be plotting her impeachment.

According to reports, the aggrieved lawmakers, who are said to have secured 21 signatures out of the 30 members of the House, are not happy that the Speaker, was enjoying alone.

The plot for her impeachment was reportedly hatched in a hotel in Akwa on Tuesday and may be actualised during plenary today (Thursday).

Unconfirmed reports say the move by the lawmakers may not be unconnected to the 2017 governorship election in the state and the need to ‘get something’ from the state Governor, Willie Obiano, who will be standing for re-election.
