ANC, opposition clash over Zuma home renovation

Zuma to face corruption charges
Opposition parties in South Africa and the ruling African National Congress (ANC) are heading for a heads on collision over protest trailing the controversy of the renovation of President Jacob Zuma’s rural home.
Opposition parties say they are going ahead with their case against President Zuma as they have called for his prosecution following the controversy surrounding the renovation of his Nkhandla rural home.
On the other hand,‎ Zuma’s ANC party called the planned march to the court a “political exercise”.
Large protests are expected with Zuma’s former ally turned fierce opponent Julius Malema leading the call for the President’s prosecution.
Meanwhile, a top court in South Africa is set to rule on whether Zuma should return about $23m (£15m) of state funds used to develop his Nkhandla residence.
The funds used to renovate his rural home has been a source of controversy for the embattled President who has personally agreed to pay back part of the sum saying he is waiting for the Accountant General of South Africa to determine how much he should payback.
The controversy over the upgrade of Zuma’s rural home has been a pain in the neck for the embattled President after a 2014 report by an independent watchdog said he had ‘benefited unduly’ from the upgrades.
