A 10-year-old child identified as Promise Ude who was chained after being accused of stealing the sum of N4,000 by her aunt has been rescued in Abeokuta by men of the Ogun State Police Command.

Abimbola Oyeyemi, the acting Police Public Relations Officer, disclosed that much information while briefing newsmen in Abeokuta, he also revealed that the girl was rescued following a tip-off after being chained to a burglar proof for more than 24-hours in an uncompleted building.

Oyeyemi also revealed that the suspect, Chiamaka Okafor, who is an aunt to the victim, Mrs. Chiamaka Okafor, is on the run as she has fled her home but her husband identified as Sunday is now in police net.

“We had information that a 10 year-old girl by the name, Promise Ude, was chained to a burglary proof iron at an uncompleted building at Adigbe area and this led our men to the scene.

“The girl was rescued by the Police and upon interrogation, the she told us that it was her aunty that tied her on the allegation that she stole N4, 000. The aunty is on the run, while her husband who is an accomplice has been arrested and he is helping us in our investigation.

“The CP IIiyasu Ahmed has sent a serious manhunt for the fleeing aunt with the view of bringing her to justice, so as to serve as deterrents to others. The CP is not happy with the situation barely a week that one Korede Taiwo was rescued from a similar situation.” The PPRO said.
